This is the FUN part of blogging! It's free to spread the love around, and it feels GOOD to talk about some of the blogs you really like, are well done, or are making a lot of progress.
I could really NEVER name them all! BUT: since I am trying so hard to get as many new bloggers going as possible, I'm gonna start the LOVE! and hope you take it from there and do the same thing on YOUR blog.
If you don't have any faves yet, well, you won't have any trouble finding some you like. If you use the Networked Blogs app at Facebook, it will suggest blogs for you to follow. You can also search the blog host you use for others' blogs. Most of us have friends at FB, Twitter, or other groups we belong to. Many of those friends will have blogs. TIME TO CHECK THEM OUT....and report on the ones that trip your creative trigger....or give you a good vibe.
If you notice the right hand side nav bar of *my* blog, there are a good many links to blog sites that I really like, and that I find helpful.
I love Kate McKinnon's blog: http://katemckinnon.wordpress.com/
To begin with, I love Kate's jewelry making philosophy: let's make jewelry that lasts a thousand years. Kate is known as the Jewelry Architect; in fact, she has a book on the subject. I've reviewed the book and....that's another volume I would darn near next to insist that you purchase as soon as possible. Some of the projects will take determination....they are not beginner level. There is, however, a DVD included that is akin to taking a class with Kate. She will show you. Buy the book, and learn to make better jewelry than you have ever made.
BACK TO THE BLOG: Kate takes great pix that draw you into her life. She travels broadly, so you will feel as though you have roamed the world. Bookmark this one and visit frequently.
I also like Wendy Baker's blog, which I also have listed in the nav bar:
http://wendybakerdesign.blogspot.com/ She calls it Wednesday 3 O'clock. First of all, it's so pretty. And so Five and Dime. So FOR SURE I'm gonna love it. I love Wendy's rambling style, her love of words, her sense of humor.....and her jewelry, which is unbelievable and over the top. My mannequin, Carmen, wears a Wendy Baker necklace every day. Thank you, Wendy, for being YOU.
If you want to learn benchwork technique and have it broken down to no-brainer-simple, then you need to frequent my friend, Harry Wood's blog: Oscar Crow Harry's soldering photo graces the front page of my website. Need I say more about the high esteem I have for him (and all the help he has given me with what I call 'the hard stuff'!)
I love Heather Powers' blogs at Humble Beads and The Art Bead Scene I love the colors, the concept, her studio tours..... Heather is a great gal as well. The good vibe comes across in every post!
Pearl Blay of the Beading Gem does a fabulous job: http://www.beadinggem.com/ This blog is CONTENT-rich, meaning you will LEARN every time you visit. Pearl spends a lot of time doing her research, and it shows.
Here are two blogs that I think are coming along nicely:
This one is from my friend, Liz:
What I find so unique about her blog is that it is bilingual: Spanish first, then English. I love bilingual blogs because they share so much. A huge part of the US population speaks Spanish as a first language, so Liz honors that. If only my Spanish were a little better, I would do it, too! My goal is one day to do a Spanish-language video, as I have so many Latin friends who would enjoy it.
Find Liz' blog here: Tapitas de Vida I really hope you will check it out!
Another blog I discovered just today is Elizabeth Owens-Dwy's Clarity of the Purple Sage:
Elizabeth took note of my last post about Timothy Adam's book HOW TO MAKE MONEY USING ETSY and thought long and hard about her blog. She has made a commitment to being more regular at it. She sent me her link today, I had a look: I was quite honored that she had said many kind words about me, but! what most impressed me is that she is obviously on board to be a pro blogger and is doing a lot of stuff right.
I am happy to link others' blogs to this blog if they are established blogs. We talked about blogging a good bit at my Facebook Fan Page the other day and many decided to go to Blogger and get started. I was thrilled! And I will be happy to link them here once they show that they are going to faithful at writing in their blogs, along with showing photos and drawing us into *their* lives, the way a good blogger should.
If you link a bunch of blogs and your followers go there and find the blog abandoned, unkempt, uncared for, unspoken! they will be disappointed. If YOUR blog is any of the above, those who were reading it, soon will not be.
It's a bit of a commitment....but you don't have to write a book like I tend to! A couple of paragraphs and a photo--or two--is enough. Just do it regularly!
As for me, I have a little catching up to do! I have some new blogs to link!
