Paula Gaskill is sponsoring a Traveling Box Project at the B'sue Boutiques Creative Group at Facebook What is a Traveling Box?
It's a box of quality components and findings that suggest projects, sort of like a Mini Muse. It will circulate among a small group of members. Each member will take photo the box when it arrives at their place, and share the photo of what was originally in the box with our group, along with any comments they would like to share.
Then they will select 1-4 items out of the contents of the box for a project they'd like to make, and then replace them with 1-4 quality items that will continue the creativity. Another photo will be required to show what the box will look like after the new additions. Within about two weeks or so (sooner is even better) the box should be sent along to the next person on the list.
Each one taking items out of the box will also be required to complete a project of their own design with the components selected from the box, and then show a photo at the B'sue Boutiques Creative Group at Facebook The project should be completed within a reasonable amount of time; if it can be completed within the time the participant has the package, so much the better.
When the package is sent to the next participant that one should be notified by email and a tracking number sent.
The items put back in the box do NOT have to be from B'sue Boutiques but they must be of high quality. Repurposed elements are also okay, but their use should be obvious----we don't want to stump people, we want to inspire them!
All participants should be serious about joining the project, willing and able to follow through in a timely manner. If they have blogs and are able to blog about the box when it arrives at their place, that would be great.
Really, nowadays all artisan should be blogging so maybe it's a super time to get yours going!
This Traveling Project Box has a theme: SUMMER HAS ARRIVED. 6-8 participants will soon be chosen from among those expressing interest. Please join the group, if you haven't already! Then you can friend Paula Gaskill, and get in touch with her at Facebook and tell her you are interested in being part.
This is just the FIRST box of what promises to be many. It's not a swap box, though parts will be swapped out; it is a box with a purpose, a theme, and a deadline. These are all things artists with which artists need to work, so! all in all, it's a great excersize, not only in outside the box thinking, but in the working process.
The first box will be kept to US participants only as it is our 'test' box to see how it goes. In the future, perhaps we'll have a European box for overseas participants. Given there can be customs issues as well as shipping time-frame issues across borders, we'll have to think out how to work it to best effect---but we are already brainstorming it!
Thanks, Paula, for taking this on, and to group members who suggested the idea. We're always working on new group ideas and invite your input and suggestions, as well! Come join us!
The group is open to all jewelry makers working in any media. It is sponsored by B'sue Boutiques. You do not have to be using our goods to be a part of the fun, to post photos of your work, talk about your process, or share selling links for your handmade finished jewelry, handmade components, or vintage jewelry.
Our group consists of well over 1,100 members working in every imaginable style. We are mostly about mixed media/repurposing/beading/assemblage with a strong vintage-Bohemian vibe. You will love the camaraderie at our group....consider this your invitation to come and share your journey with us!
This sounds intriguing. I would love to participate. When would this start? I am literally in the process of moving but it sou des like a great excuse to make sure I get my desk set up ASAP!
