A Marvelous Marriage: Polymer Clay and Brass Stampings

Here's a wonderful case in point, this beautiful festoon necklace made with polymer clay and our Silverware Silverplated Brass Stampings    It was made by Marcia Tuzzolino of Aurora Design and a member of the B'sue Boutiques Design Team

What a beautiful piece!

I LOVE polymer clay, and while I have some starter kits at B'sue Boutiques from time to time, polymer clay is not part of the stock in trade at our website.

At the same time, I find it to be an incredibly useful accompaniment to a mixed media piece made with brass stampings.

Here are a few pieces I've made, to make my point:

Polymer clay and wire are always a great pairing....and this chain along with brass bits and pieces works nicely, too.   To make the centerpiece, I used a vintage cooky cutter on white clay, which I 'stamped' with various brass stampings from our stampings line, to make an impression.   I baked it, then I colored it with inks and acrylics, and then distressed and sealed it.

 

In this photo, you can see how much texture one poly clay heart makes when properly placed in a mixed media piece:

Poly clay is great when teamed with repurposed bits, cool bead caps and glass beads.....as well as painted and resined floral clusters made of brass stampings from B'sue Boutiques

 

Stamped polymer clay was inlaid into this 40x30mm mount, topped with resin and a resined ornament made from brass stampings.

 

So versatile, it completes the neckline on this Steampunk design:

Polymer clay worked into a design just gives it a little something extra special.

Especially in this funky Bohemian-style necklace from Cynthia Wainscott of Exotic Peru....the bird pendant is sculpted in polymer clay:

I hope you feel inspired enough to go through your stash, pull out some bits, get your clay and give it a go!   Mixing materials is what gives a unique edge to your  design work, and poly clay is a rich, inexpensive, forgiving medium that ANYONE can learn to use.
