Summertime is usually a time filled with activities, family fun, and vacations.
It's also a very special time for children and teenagers....children because of being out of school, teenagers because many 'coming of age' things happen in the summertime that become part of who we become as adults. Unforgettable things that stay in our hearts....a special beach, a favorite friend, a first love.
We all have many special summertime memories that we could possibly 'translate' into a piece of jewelry. High on my list is the time I spent at my grandmother's house in Southern Pennsylvania, close to the Maryland border. The photo is of her backdoor. She would always be there to greet us when we would arrive, and we felt so loved.
When I look at this photo, I feel as though she should still come out to greet me. But, Grammy is no more.
On the other hand, she will always be there....in my memory.
I'm unsure that memory would translate into a piece of jewelry.... but I'm going to ruminate on it.
For this month's challenge we'll be using Summer Memories as our inspiration for the B'sue Boutiques Creative Group design challenge. Your memories might be
a special trip
a gift
your graduation or prom
your wedding
your first date
a favorite summer color palette
a favorite song that makes you remember a special time in your life
a childhood friend
a summer pastime
Just a few ideas for starters!
For this challenge, all pieces must first contain a visible design element from the B'sue Boutiques website. B'sue Boutiques is the sponsor of the challenge, and one participant will receive a 75.00 value goody box packed by me, B'sue, chosen by random number generator on the first day of August.
Another important part of this particular challenge is that, when posted first at the Creative Group your piece must include a BACKSTORY. That is, you must share the memory with us. It doesn't have to be a long story, it can be a paragraph, or even a little poem to go with it, but we need to understand why you created the piece.
You will post the photo taken on a clear white background on the Creative Group first, then you will tell us the backstory. If the piece is for sale, then you will want to include your selling URL. After that, you will need to pin the piece to our Group Pinterest board:

Anyone can play along, but only those pieces that follow the criteria for participation will qualify for promotion (I like to put some of the best designs on my private pages, my business page, and on my Pinterest Gallery of Inspiration
The Gallery of Inspiration will be linked prominently to the FRONT PAGE of my new B'sue Boutiques website when it opens mid-August. If your piece makes that album it will enjoy a good Pinterest shout out as I have a good following there, and will also get the advantage of the professional and organic SEO (Search Engine Optimization) that we have done by our webmaster, for our supplies site.
I hope you will enjoy this challenge and it will be interesting to see more people participate in the work. Any time you have a chance and the time to be part of a group challenge, it's a good learning process! And you never know, the number generator may make you the winner of the goody box!
